SHIP FOR WORLD YOUTH PROGRAM
The
ship for world youth (SWY) program provides an international exchange
opportunity for young people from Japan and other parts of the world by
living together on board the ship, by studying and discussing common
issues from a global perspective and by engaging in various exchange
activities on board the ship as well as in the countries visited.
The
program attempts to foster mutual understanding and friendship, to
broaden young people’s global perspective, to instil a spirit of
international cooperation, and to develop the skills to put these ideas
into practice.
Started
in 1988, the Ship for World Youth program now has approximately 1,560
ex-Japanese participating youths and about 2,300 ex overseas
participating youths from 61 countries. The main objectives of the
SWYAA in each country engage in youth activities in his/her community
and also to build friendship between Japan and his/her country
OBJECTIVES
·To
develop the individual qualities of Leadership, Experience and
Opportunity among the youth of the community by organizing activities
locally and internationally which would establish new social, volunteer
and development initiatives.
·To provide a means of communication between Alumni Association members and the Japanese Government.
·To provide information and develop domestic and international networks.
·To strengthen relationships among Alumni Associations in order to achieve common goals.
SHIP FOR WORLD YOUTH ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF SRI LANKA
Ship For World Youth Alumni Association of Sri Lanka is one of the
Leading Youth Organizations in Sri Lanka, which is engaged in many
Social Contribution activities. SWYAA Sri Lanka since its establishment
in year 2000 has implemented many social projects, which mainly
addressed the Youth Development and School Children. Through out
the past few years SWYAA Sri Lanka has gained a huge recognition in
locally and internationally for the continuous commitment for their
contribution to the Local Community.
